Privacy notice

Great Value Safaris Limited (“we”, “us”) of Plot 1 Portal Avenue, Span House, Kampala, Uganda is responsible for the personal information described here. We follow Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and, for visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Information you give us

When you send an enquiry or a message, we receive what you type: usually your name, email address, phone number, country, travel dates, number of travellers, the safaris on your list and your message. Please don’t send passwords, payment details or sensitive information such as health details.

Information sent automatically

With each form, your browser sends your IP address and browser type. We use them only to stop spam and abuse, and remove them after a short period (see below).

How we use it, and our legal basis

• To answer your enquiry and plan your trip. You asked us to, so this is a step before a possible contract with you.
• To book and run the trip you confirm. Needed for our contract with you.
• To keep business records, such as accounts and tax records. Required by law, and in our legitimate interest.
• To protect our forms from spam and abuse. Our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe. Messages that look like spam are set aside automatically and checked by a person; this doesn’t affect your rights.
• To understand how the site is used with Google Analytics. Only if you allow analytics cookies, and you can change your mind at any time.

We don’t sell personal information, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means.

Only our own team reads your messages and requests. Some service providers handle information for us, under our instructions and with suitable safeguards:

• our website host, which stores the site and its database;
• our email provider, which delivers our replies;
• Google, for analytics, only if you allow it;
• Cloudflare, if a form uses its Turnstile check to tell people and bots apart.

If you choose to contact us on WhatsApp or social media, those services handle your messages under their own privacy terms.

Some providers may process information outside Uganda. Where they do, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequate level of protection, as the law requires.

You can ask us to:

• send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
• delete your information when we no longer need it or you withdraw consent;
• limit how we use it, or object to it being used;
• give you your information in a format you can take elsewhere;
• withdraw your consent to analytics cookies, using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page.

Use our data request form or email sales@gvsafaris.co.ug. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we reply within one month. Making a request is free.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office (pdpo.go.ug) or, in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority.

Our cookie notice lists every cookie the site uses. Essential cookies keep your safari list and protect our forms; analytics cookies are used only with your permission.

The site uses an encrypted connection, access to messages is limited to authorised staff with their own accounts, and staff actions are logged.

The site is meant for adults, not children.

When this notice changes, we update the date at the top. If the change affects what you agreed to, we ask you again.
